A Great Afternoon & Evening for Korean Professional Baseball; Aug. 21, 2011
Doosan Bears vs. Hanwha Eagles at Jamsil Stadium; Seoul
Some interesting differences...
- Almost no PA at all. There are very few vendors walking the stands. Only a few beer guys that carry a mini-keg on their back.
- Each team has many cheers and songs. It often sounds more like a soccer match.
- You can bring anything in the stadium with you. No searches or bag checks. Most vendors are outside the ballpark and you buy before you enter. And no price gouging. Same cost as elsewhere in Seoul.
- I was hungry in the 7th and ended up buying a little fruit bag with 2 bananas and 3 tangerines for $2. Much healthier.
- General admission ticket was $8.

Hike to Surakson in Norhteast Seoul; Aug. 20, 2011
The trail starts out in Gyeonggi Province and includes two waterfalls, Silver and Gold, named centuries before the Olympic Games existed.
The hike took over 5 hours, covering roughly 8 kilometers.
From the top of Surakson:

Kudos to the guy who hauls up popsicles, bottled water and cans of beer to sell near the top of the mountain. You've got to give him credit, although he needs a marketing course as the price he charged was nearly the same as all the stores in town... |
